KEY TO FRUITFUL LIVING

SCRIPTURE: And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. – Genesis 41:52

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Until you let go of what is behind, you cannot lay hold of what is ahead.

The will of God for His children is to be fruitful in all things. To be fruitful means bearing fruit especially in abundance.
What then is the key to fruitfulness? It is forgiveness! Nothing thrives around the man who does not forgive the offences of others.
Joseph named his first son, Manasseh which means ‘I forget’. (Genesis 41:51). He also named his second son Ephraim which means ‘fruitful’. Joseph was fruitful in his lifetime and made generational impacts that could not be erased because he forgave and forgot the wickedness of his brothers against him. He also forgave Potiphar’s wife for laying false accusation against him. He may have also forgiven Potiphar for not investigating the lies of his wife before throwing him into the prison. Joseph forgave everyone who offended him.

Where forgiveness is lacking, fruitfulness is not in view. If you have imprisoned somebody in your heart, God cannot answer your prayer. Release people who have offended you. Until you let go of what is behind, you cannot lay hold of what is ahead.

A loveless life will produce a loveless prayer and a loveless prayer is a lifeless and fruitless prayer. If you cannot forgive people in your heart, your prayer cannot be answered. A loveless prayer is a useless prayer. If you hold people in your heart and you pray to God to change your life, it will not work. Praying with bitterness is praying in frustration. The result is fruitlessness. If you want to secure God’s attention, endeavour to forgive.

Remember this: Until you let go of what is behind, you cannot lay hold of what is ahead.

1. Make up your mind never to allow your heart to be a breeding ground for people’s offences.

THE TRAGEDY OF INGRATITUDE

SCRIPTURE: And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. – Luke 17:17–19

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Until you know the language of appreciation, you will remain a victim of frustration.

Prayer, an act of communing with God, must secure the attention of God in order to be answered. Such prayer must be ‘clothed’ with thanksgiving. God examines how you handle the last miracle that occurred in your life. His expectation from you is to return the praise to Him. This determines whether or not you will experience the next one. There are many grumblers but few ‘thanksgivers’. Ingratitude makes a man remember God in the times of problems but forget Him in prosperity.

Now, why must we avoid the tragedy of ingratitude?

1. Ingratitude blinds our eyes to God’s work in our lives: Jesus once healed ten lepers but only one of them returned to appreciate God for the healing; the other nine were ungrateful servants. You see, this is the proportion of the grateful to the ungrateful Christians in the Church today; out of every ten persons God does something for in the Church, only one usually returns to give glory to God. This is the spirit of ingratitude. Ingratitude made the nine lepers not to see what God did for them. If you cannot notice what He has done for you, you will never see what He will do. Ingratitude blocks our eyes from seeing the good works of God in our lives.

2. Ingratitude is the doorway to frustration: Association without appreciation is frustration. Until you know the language of appreciation, you remain a victim of frustration in your relationships.

Remember this: We were not created to give God order but created to give God worship.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Always return praise to God for everything He does for you like that grateful leper.
2. Employ all the avenues of worship that you know to praise and honour God.

A LIFE OF VALUE

SCRIPTURE: ‘For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich’ – 2 Corinthians 8:9.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your value in life is determined by the value you add to other people’s lives.

A life of real value is not about what you can get but what you can give. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Master came to give. He gave until He gave His life. No wonder He is the most celebrated and valued personality to ever walk on the sands of time and eternity.

Your value in life is determined by the value you add to other people’s lives. When you enhance other people’s value, you enhance your own value. You will never feel valueless in life as long as you are helping other people to have value. You become your best in life when you are in the business of bringing out the best in the lives of others. Your joy and excitement level moves to higher levels when people begin to attribute their rise, worth, value and joy in life to your input and impact in their lives.

So, many people are trying to make a living until they forget to live their lives. Someone once said, ‘You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give.’ It is important to know that quality of life (contributing to humanity, adding value, bringing out the best in people and showing people direction) is superior to standard of living (the personal comfort of life). Some people have high living standard (many cars, money, etc.) but a low quality of life (no joy, no peace, nobody being enhanced etc.) What a misery! Please, live a life of value and quality!

Remember this: your value in life is determined by the value you add to other people’s lives.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Determine to be more conscious of the quality of your life than your standard of living.
2. Be actively involved in the spiritual and material welfare of others.

THE ESSENCE OF CHRISTIANITY

SCRIPTURE: “…And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch” – Acts 11:26b

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your character should be able to convict sinners of their compromise; your integrity ought to suffocate their iniquity.

Christianity is a lifestyle and it is rooted in the person and teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
That is why the followers of Christ are called Christians; meaning, Christ-like or little Christ.

Now, attending Church alone is not a proof of Christianity. Miracles, breakthroughs, signs and wonders are not the essence of Christianity. Of what use is a miracle or breakthrough with an untransformed character that will end the person in the same hell with prostitutes, ritual killers, robbers etc.?

Beloved, what then is the essence of Christianity?
The major essence of Christianity is Change and the transformation of life into the nature of Christ. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
The implication of this is, as a Christian each time people look at you they are meant to be reminded of Christ. For unbelievers to feel comfortable committing sin in your presence is an evidence of the absence of the nature of Christ. Your Character should be able to convict sinners of their compromise; your integrity ought to suffocate their iniquity.

That is the real essence of Christianity!

Beloved, the greatest tragedy that can befall a person is thinking to be serving God while their old nature (character) is still intact. That qualifies them for eternity in hell fire. That shall not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

I charge you to wake up to an authentic and genuine Christianity – reflecting the nature and character of Christ in words and in conduct.

That is the essence of Christianity!

Remember this: Your character should be able to convict sinners of their compromise; your integrity ought to suffocate their iniquity.

HINDRANCE TO EFFECTIVE PRAYER

SCRIPTURE: And when you stand praying, forgive if you have ought against any that your father which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses but if you do not forgive neither will your father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. – Mark 11:25-26.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: “Unforgiveness” is one of the worst attacks on spirituality

From our anchor scripture, we understand that forgiveness is necessary for the effectiveness of prayer. In other words, your prayer is useless until you forgive and get rid of offences. Unforgiveness is one of the worst attacks on spirituality. The bait of offence is what the enemy uses to destroy the prayer life of God’s people.
The truth is, whenever the devil does not know what to do about you, he will send people to offend you. One man who repented from the occult confessed that whenever they wanted to destroy Christians and did not know how to handle them, they would send people to annoy them and through annoyance, they could easily access their lives.

If you want to have access to God in the place of prayer, you must deal completely with the spirit of unforgiveness.

Now, what does it mean to forgive?
1.  It means to give up resentment. For instance, you were resentful and angry but decided to give it up. Forgiveness means ceasing to feel resentful.

2. It means to cease from bitterness and grudges. That is to say, “I was bitter before, I was angry with you before, but now I have stopped being bitter and bearing grudges.”

3. It means to excuse the fault of others. This is a situation where someone says, “Okay, I assume he must have been under pressure that was why he acted like that,” and that settles it.

4. It means to write it off. As in writing off a debt, you can write off the obligation of others by virtue of their offences towards you.

Remember this: Unforgiveness is one of the worst attacks on spirituality.

2. Release anyone you are holding in bitterness or “unforgiveness” in your heart.

SPIRITUAL PROTOCOLS FOR SPIRITUAL RESULTS

SCRIPTURE: But be sure that everything is done properly and in order. – 1 Corinthians 14:40(NLT).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Whenever you follow spiritual protocols, you encounter physical miracles.

God is a God of order and protocol. Whenever you see people get results that you do not seem to have in your own life, it is possible that they know something you do not know or must have followed Divine protocols for getting results. Life is practical and not mystical. This means that for every effect, there is a cause; for every outcome, there is an input, and for every result, there is an effort.

In the physical realm, there are protocols to observe in order to become a great personality. In the realm of the spirit also, there are prayer protocols in place to meet the King of kings. Whenever you follow spiritual protocols, you encounter physical miracles. However, when you ignore spiritual protocols, you end as a physical ridicule.

There are Key protocols to follow in order to pray correctly. It is never enough to know how to pray; it is important to know how to pray with the right keys. It is not enough to know how to knock on the doors of heaven, it is important to knock with the right keys. If you are the owner of a house, until the right keys are in your hands, the doors can never be opened.

From today, God will open your eyes to see Divine order of achieving results in Jesus’ Name.

THE PROFIT OF KNOWING GOD

SCRIPTURE: If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand O king, But if not, be it known unto them, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, not worship the golden image which thou hast set up. – Daniel 3:17-18

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Trust is the birth place of prayer

Knowing that God is real is fuel for effective prayer. A man who knows that God is real takes prayer seriously. Every form of knowledge in life emanates from the knowledge of God. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were too aware of who God was to the point that they were ready to die in the midst of the fire. According to today’s anchor scripture, they told the king that God would save them. They knew God to be One who saves in days of calamity. That fuelled their prayers and audacity in life.

Daniel was thrown into the den of lions because he refused to stop praying when everyone was commanded to stop praying. He refused to bow to their threat to stop praying because he knew God. He knew God to the point that he was ready to die praying instead of living without praying. This was the reason he opened his windows towards Jerusalem and began to pray even when he knew that the decree to stop praying had been signed (Daniel 6:10). The knowledge of God is the birth place of trust in God. We cannot trust God if we do not know God. Trust is the birth place of prayer. Get to know God more and you will get more answers to prayer.

THE TRAGEDY OF BOTTLED OFFENCE

SCRIPTURE: Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. – Ephesians 4:31

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You do not have a future with God if your past is not sorted out with men.

Many people spend much time in prayer but see little or no result. This is because prayer must be prayed according to Divine order if it must receive Divine answer.
One of the things that make prayer a religious routine without any meaningful and ‘impactful’ result is the lack of forgiveness or a heart bottled up with offences. If you want God to hear you or change your life and destiny, you must forgive anyone who has wronged you. The world is full of offences; anyone who has not been offended is not alive. If the devil wants to attack your destiny and he cannot give you beer to drink, he will send offences your way because he knows that the embittered man is going to the same hell that the drunkard and the fornicator are going. The future can never be accessed until the past is released. You do not have a future with God if your past is not sorted out with men.

Therefore, forgive the person you raised that wants to erase you. Many people thought that they have forgiven their neighbour but when they see the person or hear their names mentioned bitterness rises in their hearts. This is a sign that they have not yet forgiven that person. A robber on the cross was forgiven on the spot because God is a forgiving God. But human beings are different.

Make up your mind to be like God in whose image you were created.

Remember this: You do not have a future with God if your past is not sorted out with men.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Have a large heart to accommodate all kinds of people.
2. Make up your mind to forgive people, even before the offences are committed.

INIQUITY: THE SUREST WAY TO DESTRUCTION

SCRIPTURE: That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?  – Job 20:5

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: What you cannot destroy will not spare you.

God hates every form of sin, but wilful sins or hypocrisies are about the worst kinds of sin. That was why Jesus was very hard on the Scribes and Pharisees while treating repented prostitutes and tax collectors with dignity (Matthew 23:25).

You see, you cannot come to Church, put up an appearance of service unto God and then go into the world and dine with the devil and his agents. That would invite the wrath of God. I once knew a young man who was attending a certain Church, participated in a 14-day prayer and fasting programme while actively living in immorality, even in those days of fasting. What a tragedy! Such a lifestyle ends in destruction and wastage. It is an extreme provocation of the wrath of God.
The fact is, what you do not kill can kill you. What you do not give up will cause you to go down in life. What you cannot destroy will not spare you. To reject righteousness is to accept backwardness. That lifestyle you cannot stop might stop you in life. I counsel that you be open and sincere before God. Do not hide anything from Him. Understand that He knows and sees everything. Let Him know that you are guilty, that you feel guilty and want to be helped. The next thing to do is to take every physical step necessary to get away from unrighteousness. With sufficient and consistent practice, you will soon begin to triumph, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: What you cannot destroy will not spare you.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Avoid all forms of iniquity at all cost.
2. Avoid iniquitous associations.

BITTERNESS: A HINDRANCE TO ACCESSING GOD

SCRIPTURE: And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses. – Mark 11:25

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Anything that embitters your heart imprisons your life.

Accessing God is a vital key to fulfilling destiny and becoming what God created one to be. Your destiny cannot be realised until God is accessed. This was why Jesus taught His disciples how to pray and access God (Luke 11:2).

However, access to God can be hindered and one of the things that hinder our access to God is a heart of ‘unforgiveness’.

Prayer is a means of accessing God and Jesus seemed to be saying that ‘when you stand praying’ in order to have access to God, you should forgive your neighbour. This implies that ‘unforgiveness’ hinders one’s access to God. ‘Unforgiveness’ in the heart makes prayer a fruitless exercise.

Anything that embitters your heart imprisons your life. The devil knows that forgiveness is essential to your life and destiny, so, he always multiplies bitterness through issues that provoke you and cause offences. He may not be able to make you fornicate or carry a gun on the street to rob people of their belongings but he wants to make your heart bitter against your neighbour.

Beloved, do endeavour to x-ray your heart. This is because apart from blocking your access to God through prayer, bitterness can take you to hellfire. Receive the grace to release anybody that must be released, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: anything that embitters your heart imprisons your life.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Ask God to help you search your heart based on the revelation from today’s message.
2. Forgive everyone you are holding anything against in your heart.

THE PROFITS OF PRAISE

SCRIPTURE: Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.  – Psalm 100:4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Appreciation deepens a man’s relationship with God.

One of the greatest privileges on earth is the privilege of prayer relationship with God. Impactful and effective prayer must be done with thanksgiving and deep appreciation to God.

What then are the benefits of praying with thanksgiving?

1. Gratitude in prayer brings multiplication: Gratitude is one of the seeds of life. Just as you plant a maize seed and you reap a harvest of corn, in the same way, those who know how to sow the seed of gratitude will reap the harvest of greatness. The appreciation of God’s faithfulness brings the multiplication of His goodness in your life. Show me a man who is knowledgeable in appreciating God and I will show you a man of multiplication and increase.

2. Gratitude enhances your intimacy with God: The same way you put butter in between two slices of bread, let your request be sandwiched in gratitude. Every association and intimacy thrives on appreciation. A man must appreciate his wife if he must live in a blissful relationship with her. The same thing applies to an employer and his employee; if they must have a healthy relationship, they must learn how to appreciate each other. The relationship between man and God is fruitless without appreciation. Appreciation deepens a man’s relationship with God.

Remember this: appreciation deepens a man’s relationship with God.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Go through some chapters in the book of Psalms to confirm the goodness of God in your life (e.g. Psalm 103 and Psalm 124).
2. Praise God from your heart as the Psalmist did.

INCREASE YOUR MENTALITY BY KNOWLEDGE

SCRIPTURE: A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. – Proverbs 24:5

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The quality of your mentality determines the quality of your destiny.

Mental or informational strength contributes greatly to a person’s distinction on earth. Our anchor text says that He who increases knowledge increases strength. And strength fuels glory, shining, distinction, honour, respect, abundance, etc.

Mental strength affects destiny. The quality of your mentality determines the quality of your destiny. A weak minded person can never have a solid destiny. Recently, I heard of a young man who was privileged to get one million Naira for the first time in his life and he was working on how to spend it on luxury (instead of investing and multiplying it) because he did not know better.

You see, people generally behave to the best of their knowledge. If they knew better, they would behave better and achieve better in life.
You can only leave where you are if you have enough knowledge to qualify you to occupy and maintain a higher level. I heard of a man who graduated from the university and went ahead for his post graduate studies. He later became a professor in the same department of the university where he was once a student. He became the Head of Department over one of his lecturers who stopped moving beyond the Master Degree level. What a tragedy and reproach!

If you do not want to end your destiny as a disastrous reproach, make sure you continue to increase your mental strength. Continue to know more of God, your career etc.

Remember this: the quality of your mentality determines the quality of your destiny.

THE PRESERVATION POWER OF WISDOM

SCRIPTURE: And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him. Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him. – 1 Samuel 18:14-15

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: It takes the mentality of God to handle the calamities of life.

We live in a world that is filled with calamities; a world that requires the wisdom of God for survival. If you turn on the television, the radio or look at one of the newspapers, especially the tabloids, you will see all manner of horrible stories. So, we need the wisdom of God for survival. It takes the mentality of God to handle the calamities of life.

Now, what is the preservation power of wisdom?

1. Wisdom invites the presence of God and invokes terror on the enemy.
From our anchor Scripture, we see that David behaved himself wisely, and because of that, God was with him. So, wisdom, especially Divine wisdom invokes the presence of God. Also, from our anchor Scripture, we see that Saul became afraid of David because he behaved himself very wisely.  So, there is a wisdom way to behave that will make witches and wizards to be afraid of you.

The enemy fears wise people and fights foolish people. When you are wise in the spirit, you are a terror to the devil.

2. Wisdom brings deliverance while foolishness brings destruction (Proverbs 28:26).
There are so many people today whose lives have been destroyed in several ways, not because of the powerfulness of the devil, but because of the powerfulness of their foolishness.


I see the wisdom of God come upon you today; you are not killable by any devil. You shall fulfil your days, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: It takes the mentality of God to handle the calamities of life.

VIBRANT SPIRIT – KEY TO OUTGROWING THE AFFLICTIONS OF LIFE

SCRIPTURE: In that day their burden will be lifted from your shoulders, their yoke from your neck; the yoke will be broken because you have grown so fat. – Isaiah 10:27 (NIV)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A healthy spirit conquers adversity.

The spirit of a man is what determines how he handles infirmities against his life. A healthy and vibrant spirit conquers adversity. So, it is the size and vibrancy of your spirit that determines the size of your destiny. It is impossible to have a strong spirit and exist with a weak life or destiny.

For instance, when children are about two years old, there is a particular cloth size that they can wear. But when they grow older, maybe about five years old, they cannot wear those clothes anymore no matter how sympathetic they are with them. And no one can impose the clothes on their bodies because their body sizes have grown beyond them.
In the same manner, you can grow your spirit to a point where your spirit will outgrow any affliction attacking your flesh.

This is a more permanent deliverance because if a man of God with a superior anointing destroys the yoke over your life, and the conditions under which that yoke was destroyed is not being maintained, the yoke can still reoccur. But if you outgrow the yoke, even if you are in the midst of one billion witches, you will remain delivered because your spiritual size has changed. So, you can outgrow that cancer, bareness, HIV, witches and wizards etc.

Beloved, my counsel to you is: fatten up your spirit-man by spending time in praying, studying the Word of God, and listening to “fireful” messages so you can outgrow any affliction in your life.

Remember this: A healthy spirit conquers adversity.

THE OPERATION OF FAITH

SCRIPTURE: Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;… – 1 Thessalonians 1:3.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Faith without steps is fake; it is an assumption.

The subject and operation of faith is necessary because we have so many Christians, especially Charismatics and Pentecostals, who are grossly disillusioned and disappointed because of what they thought they knew about faith or were taught regarding faith that never seems to produce results.

We need to know that faith is not just about looking at scriptures, identifying promises, and then claiming and confessing them until they happen. That is what we were taught many years ago. Unfortunately, that is not faith; faith goes beyond that.

Note this: Faith is a spiritual walk that requires the taking of definite steps. In Romans 4:12, the Bible says, ‘And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham,’

So, faith is a spiritual walk that requires definite steps. Faith is not just something that remains in your heart, not a situation where you just wish for something to happen; it is a walk that requires definite steps. So, there can be no faith without the taking of well-defined action steps. Faith without steps is fake; it is an assumption.

So, if you need a financial miracle, marital miracle or a miracle in ministry, work it out.

Remember this: Faith without steps is fake; it is an assumption.

THE FOUNDATIONAL SECRETS FOR GODLY WEALTH

SCRIPTURE: And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. – Genesis 13:1-2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Until you step out of sin, you cannot step up with God.

It has been proved that no one knows how to prosper a person like God. Everyone who walked with God genuinely in either the Scripture prospered abundantly. For instance, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, David, Solomon, Daniel and Esther prospered abundantly.

Now, what were their secrets? In essence, what are the foundational secrets for Godly wealth?

1. Relationship with God. Godly wealth is built on relationship with God. The quality of your relationship with God determines the quantity of your results on earth; it determines the quantity of your resources (3 John 1:2). For instance, Abraham heard God and wealth answered to him. Everything answers to the man who is answerable to God.

2. Separation from iniquity and compromise. God told Abraham to come out of his father’s house (An idolatrous background) before He could turn him into whom He wanted Him to be. God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo said, “Until you step out, you cannot step up”. So, until you step out of sin, you cannot step up with God. It is possible for a sinner to be rich but such wealth has no future.

3. Obedience to Divine instructions. God said to Abraham, ‘Come out of your father’s house to a land that I will show you’ (Genesis 12:1-3), and Abraham departed immediately without consultation with anyone. Until Abraham obeyed, God could not bless him. So, obedience is the secret of abundance in God.

Remember this: until you step out of sin, you cannot step up with God.

THE POWER OF A CLEAR CONSCIENCE

SCRIPTURE: And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men. – Acts 24:16

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When a conscience is clear, guidance is easy.

A major secret of life is anchored on one major thing: a conscience that is clear with God and with man. If our relationship with God and man is clear, reaching where we are meant to reach and becoming what we are meant to become on earth is inevitable.

With this in mind, the enemy has decided to constantly organize diversities of situations to make us offend God as well as cause our hearts to be bottled up with offence towards man.

A clear conscience is a powerful force in the fulfilment of destiny. Now, what makes a clear conscience powerful?
1. A clear conscience imparts the boldness of faith in a person’s life (Proverbs 28:1). A clear conscience equals strong confidence at the place of prayer and in life generally.

So, anything that makes God not to be happy with you is indirectly fighting the boldness of your faith.

2.   A clear conscience gives someone access to Divine Direction. When a conscience is clear, guidance is easy. But when a conscience is injured guidance is lost, and when guidance is lost, disaster is inevitable. In Proverbs 20:27, the Bible says, ‘The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD,...’. So, when the spirit is injured by offence, it cannot function accurately.

Beloved, anytime someone comes your way to constitute an offence, such a person is fighting your direction and the accuracy of your spirit.

Remember this: When a conscience is clear, guidance is easy.

AVOIDING THE CRASH OF DESTINY

SCRIPTURE: But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. – 1 Timothy 6:6-7

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The cure for covetousness is contentment.

God created Adam and Eve in His image and established them in the beautiful Garden of Eden. But when they gave their ears to the devil, they crashed out of the original Divine purpose and that necessitated Jesus Christ’s journey to Calvary.

In our world today, many people have experienced a crash of destiny by treading the path of Adam and Eve.
So, we shall be observing one of the pitfalls of Adam and Eve so we can avoid it in order to fulfil our destinies.

That pitfall is THE SPIRIT OF COVETOUSNESS

The fruit was indeed good to the eyes (Genesis 3:6) but disastrous to life. It was a sweet poison; a beautiful looking death. The spirit of covetousness, (the craving for that which is forbidden) was at work in the lives of Adam and Eve. It is not everything that looks good that is good.

There are many people whose eyes have put them in trouble or taken them to hell. Behind many armed robbery and prostitution cases is not poverty but the spirit of covetousness; I must get the latest car, blackberry phone, “blueberry”, iPhone, “you-phone” etc.

Beloved, the cure for covetousness is contentment (1 Timothy 6:6,7). Covetousness ruined the destinies of Eve, Adam, Esau, Judas Iscariot, Achan and Gehazi. So, resist the spirit of covetousness if you must fulfil your destiny both in time and in eternity.

Remember this: the cure for covetousness is contentment

FIVE THINGS NOT TO DO OR SAY

SCRIPTURE: Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the one who makes me who I am. – Philippians 4:13 (THE MESSAGE BIBLE)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The way you think affects the way you live and the results you see.

There are five things you must never do or say and they are:
1.Do not allow life to pass you by. Do not allow yourself to be left behind. Be informed both spiritually and naturally. Make progress continuously, no matter how little.

2.Do not live below your potential. Do not live below your possibilities. Do not live below the life God planned for you to live. Expand your mind and life by the revelation of the Word and by continuous education.

3.Don’t ever say, ‘There is no time’. Know that time will never surrender itself to you because it is not what you wait for. Time is what you order, employ and direct.

4.Don’t ever say ‘I don’t have the brain or ability’. There is nobody without the brain or ability to do what God wants them to do. The way you think affects the way you live and the results you see.

5.Don’t ever say ‘I am too old or it is too late’. The fact is, it is never too late to do the right thing, and it is never too late to restart a thing. May God give you the grace to move to that next level, in Jesus’ Name.

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE YOURSELF

SCRIPTURE: One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? – John 6:8-9

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Nobody knows your real capacity in life except the God who created you.

With God, there is potential in everyone and everything to be great. For instance, the five barley loaves and two small fishes that Andrew despised were what the Master multiplied and fed 5000 men (besides women and children) with and what remained was so much that twelve (12) baskets of fragments were picked up as left-over after the feeding. What a mystery! Human beings would always underrate, undermine and underestimate potential. The world’s evaluation of your life should, therefore, not intimidate you. What they feel about you should not infuriate you. Nobody knows your real capacity in life except the God who created you. You don’t even know your full potential; if you did, you would definitely behave differently.

Thomas Edison (the famous inventor of the incandescent bulb and of thousands of other inventions) failed mathematics in grade three and was classified as a mentally retarded child. But later on, he became the father of mathematics and physics. Bill Gates (the billionaire founder of Microsoft) dropped out of college to pursue his passion in mathematics and computers. Today, he ranks beyond many institutions, spending millions of dollars daily on charitable causes across the world.
A wise man once said, ‘What lies behind you is history, what lies before you is destiny. But both of these are tiny matters compared to what lies within you.’ No examination has ever yet measured your potential. Refuse to be undervalued.

Remember this: Nobody knows your real capacity in life except the God who created you.

FULL CLOUDS AND HEAVY DOWNPOURS

SCRIPTURE: If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. – Ecclesiastes 11:3-4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Nobody may see or notice your sacrifice but everyone must see your rainfall

During the hot seasons of the year, the sun beats on water surfaces causing water to evaporate into the sky. When water is sufficiently collected in the sky and the cloud can no longer hold it, it falls back to the earth as rain. If rain is not falling despite the process of evaporation, it is because the cloud is not yet full. As soon as the cloud is full, the rain must fall. And when it is really time for rain to fall, it is usually a downpour and not drizzle.

The interesting thing is that nobody sees the process of evaporation; what goes up is invisible, but what comes down as rain is not only visible but tangible. What goes up as water vapour is insignificant compared to what comes down as rain. That is how life is. That is also how the lifestyle of sowing and reaping is; that is how giving and receiving is.

During the hot seasons of your life when things seem not to be working, that is the best time to give to God. When your cloud is full of rain, it must empty itself on your life. If you observe natural conditions, you will not sow, and if you do not sow, you cannot reap. Nobody may see or notice your sacrifice but everyone must see your rainfall. Keep filling the cloud, the rain is coming!

THE CHARACTER OF DANIEL

SCRIPTURE: ‘But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. – Daniel 1:8

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is no success without strategy. There is no principality without principles.

It is important to note that the secret of men is in their stories; and stories of successful men reveal the strategies behind their exploits. The fact is: there is no success without strategy. There is no principal man without principles. Daniel was a man who though in a foreign land, rose to a position of Vice President. He outlived four kings and was relevant for almost 70 years.

Now, what are the Character Secrets of Daniel?
1. Freedom from Defilement
Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself even at the threat of his life. Those who will have the Daniel kind of destiny are those who have refused to run with the crowd on the road of evil. That everybody is doing a particular thing does not make it right. No matter how long a lie is told, it can never become the truth.

2. Living Above Average.
The Bible says Daniel had an excellent spirit. He lived above board. Like Daniel, endeavour to live above average; insist on what is correct. Come to a point where you clearly stand out from the crowd.

To have the destiny of Daniel means to have a character of excellence. It means having an attitude that avoids mediocrity, a character that stands out clearly. Among the Christians in the area where you live, will you make up your mind and say, ‘If the Bible is to be written again, my name will feature in it?’

Remember this: There is no success without strategy. There is no principality without principles.

1. Determine to live a purified life
2. Make up your mind to stand out in anything you do.

FROM GRASS TO GRACE

SCRIPTURE: And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti. – Esther 2:17

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you are connected to God, your history is not as important as your destiny.

Esther was a young girl who was taken along with the rest of Israel and Judah into captivity during the Babylonian captivity. She was an orphan and a slave being brought up by her uncle, Mordecai.

One day, God lifted her and she became the Queen of the Persian Empire in place of Queen Vashti.

Now, what can we learn from the story of Esther?
1.There is no limit to the potential of a person who is connected to God.
Anyone who is connected to God has an unlimited potential. Anybody who has the life of God in them has limitless potential. There is no limit to what such a person can become in life.

2. God is a specialist in making something out of nothing.
If you think that you do not belong anywhere in life or people do not think you have anything serious because of your background; then the story of Esther is a vital lesson to you. God can turn anyone to anything on earth.

3.When you are connected to God, what is behind you is not as important as what is before you.
Where you are coming from is not as important as where you are going. When you are connected to God, your history is not as important as your destiny.

My counsel is that, keep moving until you reach where God wants you to reach. Do not let any devil stop you. Do not park beside failure, keep moving on.

Remember this: When you are connected to God, your history is not as important as your destiny.

1. Put God first in all your endeavours in life.
2. Maintain a right stand with God at all times.

THE BENEFITS OF DEDICATION AND WORSHIP

SCRIPTURE: ‘And be not drunk with wine wherein is excess, but be filled with Spirit, speaking to yourself in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord. – Ephesians 5:18-19.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Worship is the submission of personal will, agenda and life to the purpose of God.
 
Dedication is being devoted to God. It is inextricably connected to worship as the flesh of a person is connected to the bones. This means that dedicated people are true worshippers and true worshippers are absolutely dedicated.

One example of a dedicated person in the Bible is Paul the Apostle. In Philippians 3:7-10, he affirmed that his greatest passion on earth was to know God, serve Him and love Him.

Now, what benefits can we see in the lives of dedicated and true worshippers of God?
1. Frontline Existence: No man who is truly dedicated and is a worshipper of God will live in the backside of life. Paul says, ‘I laboured more abundantly than they all…’ (1 Corinthians 15:9-10). The other apostles started before him but he alone wrote almost half of the New Testament.

2. Unusual Grace for High Impact Existence: Paul said, ‘But I am what I am by the grace of God (1 Corinthians 15:10). He lived completely by the grace of God and impacted his generation greatly.

3. Generational Influence: This means coming to a point where nobody can ignore your existence. When you speak, people hear. When you cough, people shake.

Beloved, there is no preaching, healing and deliverance in heaven. The only thing done in heaven is worship. If you do not know worship, you have no place there.

Remember this: Worship is the submission of personal will, agenda and life to the purpose of God.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Make up your mind to be a true worshipper of God.
2. Engage yourself daily with praise and worship songs.

POSITIVE SURPRISES

SCRIPTURE: “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” – 1 Corinthians 2:9

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To exist without God is to exist without surprises: To be independent of God is to be insufficient of positive surprises.
 
A Surprise is an unexpected or astonishing event that happens without someone’s expectation, something very astounding to them.

God is a God of positive surprises. Surprises are His natural operations and realm. That is why, to exist without God is to exist without surprises. To be independent of God is to be deficient of positive surprises.

Divine Surprises are God’s wondrous, amazing and unbelievable happenings that are beyond human comprehension and apprehension. Those things which are highly impossible to man tend to be very much possible with God.

For instance, God can make a woman who has passed the age of childbearing (menopause) able to give birth again, as it was in the case of Sarah (Genesis 21:1-2).
God can also turn a donkey into a prophet. Incredible! (Numbers 22:26-30). God opened the mouth of Balaam’s Donkey to give him a prophetic rebuke and advice. That is called a Positive surprise!

Beloved, I give you one key to experiencing positive surprises:

That key is HAVING TRUST IN GOD.

Trust in God is an unconditional commitment and dedication to Him. This is the point where one says, ‘With or without a husband, a job or money, I will still serve God.’
Indeed, trust in God is that realm where nothing is able to change your position or heart for God.
So, the realm of positive surprises is not a mirage; it is real. It is not mystical but practical if you will not waver in your TRUST for God.

Remember this: To exist without God is to exist without surprises; to be independent of God is to be deficient of positive surprises.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Carefully go through the message again in the course of the day
2. Doggedly determine to trust God with all your heart regardless of any condition.

CARRYING THE AURA OF HIS PRESENCE

SCRIPTURE: “And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence” – Exodus 33:15

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A real child of God carries an aura of sanctification that is contrary to the present day seduction.

The Aura of God’s Presence is that distinct Godly atmosphere that surrounds a Child of God anywhere he/she goes.
Every genuine Christian ought to carry that feel-able presence of God all the time. It makes a lot of difference!

Let me give you some practical examples. One day, my wife and I travelled to the United States of America. We went to a shop in New Jersey and immediately we entered, a man looked at me and asked, ‘Are you a pastor?’ I replied, ‘Why do you ask?’ He said, ‘It is written all over you.’

I had a similar experience when I was flying to Port Harcourt (Nigeria). A senator who sat next to me said, ‘Excuse me sir, are you a pastor?’
At another time, I was at the Wembley Area in London with my wife. While we were checking into a hotel, a lady who was of the other religion from North Africa looked at me and said, ‘What you have, I need it.’ My wife and I were amazed! I asked her, ‘What do you mean?’ and she answered, ‘There is something you carry.’ I told her, ‘What I have is Jesus Christ,’ and she said, ‘I need Him.’  And she was led to Christ at that very moment.

Hallelujah!

THE PLAGUE OF WRONG ASSOCIATION

SCRIPTURE:  “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Association fuels assimilation; who surrounds you determines what you can survive.

An association could mean a connection or cooperative linking of people or a group of people for a joint purpose.

Beloved, it is expedient that your association changes the moment you surrender your life to Christ. It is not possible to say a person is born again, filled with the Holy Ghost, and his closest friend is a drunkard, a smoker or a womanizer. The truth is that it is unwise to think that they cannot convince him to compromise.

If I may ask, is it possible for a fly to play on a hot stove even after the fly dreamed that it was playing on that hot stove? Will that fly make the dream a reality? NO! You cannot be fire and garbage survives around you without being burnt.

I personally know some people who avoid me like a plague because they are not born again. My mere appearance torments their souls and convicts them of their compromise.

Now, if a child of God always enjoys the company of the ungodly he should also be ready to enjoy their destination which is hell fire because, who you company with determines what accompanies you. Who you follow determines what follows you.

My counsel is, if you are not a vulture that inhabits corruption, but an eagle that will not taste rottenness, locate your kind in order to fulfil your destiny.

Remember this: Association fuels assimilation: who surrounds you determines what you can survive.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1.Consciously choose your association
2.Disengage from any association that will make you compromise your faith and stand in God.

THE MARKETING OF THE FLESH

SCRIPTURE: “And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart” Proverbs 7:10

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Instead of advertising our spirituality, we live in a generation that seeks to advertise carnality.

The marketing of the flesh connotes the exposure of sensitive parts of the body with the intention to seduce.

From our anchor scripture above, it is established that there is an attire (a dressing) of a harlot. Commercial organizations market their products extensively through advertisement. In the same manner, the attire of a harlot is the attire that merchandises the human flesh as a product to be exploited.

In this end time, there is the shameless showcasing of the flesh. It is impossible to differentiate a Jezebel (immoral and seductive woman) from a Christian. They wear dresses that are very revealing and tight on their bodies, yet, they come to church to sing and clap. The question is: who are they deceiving?

Instead of advertising our spirituality, we live in a generation that seeks to advertise carnality. The truth is, each time you dress in a seductive manner, you are only advertising your body and you seem to be saying, ‘Everybody see me, look at how physically endowed I am: look at my chest, look at my back, look at how big my hips are; just take a look’. If you are such a person, the only thing you are good for is to be used by men.

The challenge is, many children of God have joined the children of the devil in fulfilling satan’s vision by directing people to the path that will lead them into damnation with their looks.

But that shall not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this:Instead of advertising our spirituality, we live in a generation that seeks to advertise carnality.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Determine to represent God in your looks or dressing
2. Change your wardrobe if necessary.

BE DIFFERENT FROM THE REST

SCRIPTURE: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you” 2 Corinthians 6:17

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You cannot make a difference until you are different.

To be different is to be distinct in quality and nature from the rest. It has been confirmed that you cannot make a difference until you are different. And until your nature is different your future can never be different.

Beloved, the tragedy today is that it is difficult to differentiate a believer from an unbeliever because of similarity in habits.

For instance, an unbeliever can sign 7:30am as his resumption time in his office when he actually resumed work at 9am.  Unbelievers can mix kerosene with petrol in order to make more profit. It is very unfortunate that there are some people who claim to be believers that are involved in the same corrupt practices today. The truth of the matter is, if a Christian has the same kind of corrupt habit with an unbeliever; it means his eternal destination is not different from that of an unbeliever. That destination is eternity in hell fire!

One day, I was in an aircraft and a man who sat next to me was making a phone call. He said:  ‘Yes, I’m speaking to you from Lagos now’ meanwhile we were at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.  I was so amazed that I exclaimed, ‘He is about to fly o!’ Peradventure something happened to him and he died, then he just lied before dying. What a pity!

Beloved, please be different from them. Stand out from the rest.

Remember this: You cannot make a difference until you are different.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1.Ensure that you make the Word of God your standard not man.
2.Determine to be clearly different in habit from unbelievers.

THE BENEFITS OF BEING A BLESSING

SCRIPTURE: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." Genesis 12:3 NIV

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Being a blessing connects a person to a ceaseless flow of the blessing

The will of God for His children is to be channels of blessing (Genesis 1:28). From our anchor scripture, we understand that by being a blessing to people, a person becomes a blessing.

Now, what are the benefits of being a blessing?
1. Being a blessing connects a person to a ceaseless flow of the Blessing: “I will bless you and you shall be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:3).
2. Being a blessing makes a person escape the curse.
3. Being a blessing releases the nature of God in man. The nature of God is the nature of authority, power and dominion. So, exhibit that nature by being a blessing
4. Being a blessing releases in a person the joy of impact. It is a wonderful experience when you can turn around and see many lives your life has helped. You do not know joy until you know what it means to bless others. It is the joy of impact and fulfilment.
5. Being a blessing gives a person access to multi-dimensional grace. That is the point where people cannot understand the kind of anointing and grace you carry.
As you make up your mind to be a blessing today, I prophesy the release of the benefits highlighted above on your life, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Being a blessing connects a person to a ceaseless flow of the blessing.
